At BLRT Repair Yards Tallinn, we are proud to have supported Grona Shipping BV, the technical manager of the bulk carrier LAUNKALNE, in taking a major step toward more sustainable operations by installing Econowind VentoFoil sails.

Designed to carry up to 8,100 metric tonnes of wood pellets, Launkalne now benefits from wind-assisted propulsion technology that helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions on every voyage- an important contribution to decarbonising cargo transport. Alongside sails installation, the team performed a comprehensive maintenance and overhaul programm.

Depending on vessel type, size, and operational profile, VentoFoil sails can reduce fuel consumption by 10- 30%, with especially significant savings for bulk carriers like Launkalne on longer voyages, while enabling vessels to meet tightening IMO regulations and climate targets.
