BLRT Repair Yards Tallinn has been selected to carry out a major retrofit onboard Aurora Botnia, Wasaline’s flagship hybrid ferry and one of the world’s most eco-friendly vessels.

The project involves the installation of a 10.4 MWh LFP battery system, supplied by AYK Energy Ltd., a significant upgrade expected to reduce the vessel’s annual fossil energy use by approximately 10,000 MWh and cut emissions by 23%.

Work is set to begin in autumn 2025.
