Turku Repair Yards has completed maintenance on Ro-Pax ferry DROTTEN, operated by Destination Gotland.
A significant part of the scope focused on work below the waterline, including dismantling and refitting the propeller blades, overhauling the steering gear, renewing the shaft seals, replacing the lower Thordon bearing on the port rudder, overhauling both stabilisers, and replacing the thruster with an exchange unit.
The underwater hull underwent surface preparation followed by application of a silicone coating system, while the rudder received specialised MetaLine treatment.
The project also included steel repairs to the Ro-Ro ramps, funnel plating and ventilation grids, servicing of the vessel’s window frames, and cleaning of ballast water, fuel, and oil tanks. Selected ballast tanks underwent steel renewal and surface treatment.
The project brought together multiple technical disciplines within one carefully planned yard stay, supporting the vessel’s continued reliable operation.
For a vessel maintaining a regular operating schedule, planned maintenance plays an essential role in preserving technical condition, reliability and readiness for continued service.
